All American Husky Rescue Inc. takes great care to ensure that the needs and requirements of each husky and prospective new owner are met. We will only consider adopters who can provide committed, safe and loving homes. Our huskies have already had to be rescued once, we do not want this to be repeated.
Making the decision to adopt a husky should not be taken lightly. Dog owners need to be prepared to feed, train, exercise, groom, and interact with their dogs, as well as to get them medical attention when needed. Adopting a husky is a long-term commitment but very rewarding!
A few questions to ask yourself before adopting a husky:
Why do you want to adopt one of our huskies?
- This is a question many people forget to ask themselves. Dogs live with us and depend on us for all of their needs. This is a great responsibility and one that should not be taken lightly. The kind of relationship you build with your pet is dependent on the commitment you are willing to make.
Do you have time for a dog?
- You have to provide food, water, exercise, care, and companionship every day. You can not just "take a day off" if you feel like it. Regular exercise and mental stimulation are vital for a dog’s well-being. If your schedule is full right now, then you should wait until you have the time a dog deserves. No dog should live lonely.
Do you have adequate room for a dog?
- A reasonably large fenced yard where he can exercise safely, is ideal for a husky.
Can you afford a dog?
- Most people underestimate the real cost of owning a dog. Food, medicines and veterinary care, toys, beds, bowls & collars are just a few expenses involved when owning a dog.
